Abstract

Abstract Gravitational waves (GWs) emitted during a core-collapse supernova (CCSN) exhibit characteristic frequency features that encode information about the underlying physical processes leading up to the explosion. The dedicated-frequency framework is a hierarchical pipeline for following up GW burst detection candidates via bandpass analyses, designed to facilitate the detection of frequency-specific GW signatures. The applications of the dedicated-frequency framework are demonstrated using two separate case studies: a low-frequency and a high-frequency analysis. A successful detection with the low-frequency analysis, limited to ≲ 256 Hz, confirms the presence of low-frequency GW signatures associated hydrodynamical instabilities and provides constrains on CCSNe explosion mechanisms. In contrast, a high-frequency analysis, limited to ≳ 256 Hz, improves the detection significance of events with negligible signal power below 256 Hz. The methods and results described in this article were originally presented in Lee et al. 2025 (Physical Review D 112, 082006).
